Medicare is a federal health insurance program in the United States primarily for people aged 65 and older, but it also covers some younger individuals with disabilities and certain diseases. 

You can sign up for Medicare Part A and Part B through Social Security if you are turning 65 or are under 65 and Receive Disability Benefits. You may have declined Medicare Part B when you first became eligible because you had employment that offered you health coverage. If the employer coverage is ending, you will usually qualify to enroll into your part B Medicare.

• Purpose: Medigap policies are designed to cover the gaps in Original Medicare (Part A and Part B), such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
• Coverage: Medigap plans are standardized and labeled with letters (A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, N), each offering different levels of coverage. They do not cover prescription drugs (Part D), dental, vision, or hearing care.
• Providers: Offered by private insurance companies.
• Flexibility: You can visit any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare. There’s no network, so you can receive care anywhere in the U.S.
• Cost: You pay a monthly premium for the Medigap policy in addition to the Part B premium. Costs can vary based on the plan, provider, and location.

• Purpose: Medicare Advantage plans are an alternative to Original Medicare and provide all Part A and Part B benefits, often including additional benefits like prescription drugs, dental, vision, and hearing.
• Coverage: These plans often have extra benefits and services beyond Original Medicare. Most include prescription drug coverage (Part D).
• Providers: Also offered by private insurance companies but are approved by Medicare.
• Flexibility: Typically have network restrictions, like HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) or PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations). You might need referrals to see specialists and must use network providers.
• Cost: You continue to pay the Part B premium and may also have an additional premium for the Medicare Advantage plan. Costs can vary based on the plan, provider, and location. There may be copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.

Every Medicare plan has a unique network of Providers. You may have to decide between the providers you must keep and which are flexible. Start by making a list of all of them. We will do our best to help you find a plan that covers most or all of your providers.

Medicare Drug Formularies vary between plans. It's possible that the health plan you choose, may not cover all of your prescriptions. Start by making a detailed list of all of your drugs. We will do our best to match your RX needs to a plan that covers most or all of them.

Every Plan covers travel benefits differently. Typically, most plans give you emergency coverage when you travel. But some plans offer non-emergency health benefits, allowing you to see providers across many states. We will help you find a plan that fits your travel desires. 

There are a variety of extra benefits available to Medicare plan members. Benefits like Medicare Part B reimbursement, a grocery or gas allowance, Gym Membership, Over-the-counter items, Dental, Vision, Transportation, and many more. But not every plan covers all of these and some of these extras, you have to qualify for. We will help match you to the plan that covers as many of the extra benefits you are looking for.

You would still qualify for a Medicare Plan!  There are special plans for those who have both, called SNP or Special Needs Plans. These plans typically offer additional plan coverage and richer supplemental benefits. These plans vary by service area.
